Wedding Cake Frosting

Note:   original recipe has been halved – this amount will frost two 9×13 cakes.


  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1 egg white, plus water to make ¼ cup liquid
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp white vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp cornstarch

Mix all ingredients except cornstarch in order given.   Beat for ½ minute.   Add cornstarch and beat for 3 ½ minutes longer. Spread over cooled cakes.
